Document signed by William Bridgeman, c.1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698

The NEW AFRICA at Plymouth is to come to Spithead to be paid and you are directed to give orders to pay her as soon as she arrives there. We have received a report from the Commissioners for Sick and Wounded concerning William Whitfield who was wounded in His Majesty's service. My Lords have considered his case and it is their opinion that he should be allowed a pension, equal to what others have in his circumstances. The accounts you lately sent to us of the stores furnished for the Dutch ships have been sent to the Earl of Portland, who has promised to write to Holland that the account may be paid.
