In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

You are directed to have the LONDON MERCHANT hospital ship at Spithead refitted for sea to attend the main fleet in the Channel for next summer. She is to furnished with cradles and supplied with surgeons and medicines and all other necessaries. You are also to buy or hire, as you think fit, a fitting French ship to be employed as a hospital ship and to report to this Board what number of men you judge proper to be allowed her.
