In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to give orders for hiring a tender for the service of the LYON, in order for the better manning of her. We have been advised by Captain Hubbard, Commander-in-Chief of ships at the Nore, that he has ordered the men aboard the SWIFTSURE short allowance of provisions for the want of a supply. We desire you will quicken victualling according to our former orders. The NORTHUMBERLAND and LENNOX being arrived at the Buoy of the Nore you are to have them surveyed and to report to this Board your opinion as to which of the yards it shall be most proper to have them refitted. The SMIRNA MERCHANT is also in want of provisions. You are also to give orders for entering men to serve the WREN pink, now building at Eling.
