In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have received a letter form Captain Mighells, Commander of the OWNERS LOVE fireship at Falmouth, advising us that he has put in there the ship being so leaky that she cannot keep the sea. A copy of the survey of her defects is enclosed. You are directed to make enquiry as to why she was not put in a condition to proceed to Virginia as was ordered and, if she was not fit to proceed, why we were not advised, she having been just refitted at Portsmouth before she sailed.
