Sailing seven seas : a history of the Canadian Pacific Line /Peter Pigott.
Using first-hand accounts of former captains, shore staff, pursers and stewardesses, the author writes about the experiences on board Canadian Pacific ships from 1883 until 2005. Attempting to set the narrative against the general background of Anglo-Canadian history, the book tracks the arrival of the first ships, known as Empresses, through to the use of the entire fleet as Allied troop carriers during both world wars and 2005 when what was left of the maritime operation was sold off. Black and white and coloured photographs are included alongside advertisements for travel on the Canadian Pacific Line.
