Brittany Ferries : 40 memorable years /by Miles Cowsill.
A history of Brittany Ferries, founded in 1973 by a farming co-operative led by Alexis Gourvennec to transport produce from Brittany to the markets of South-West England. The company swiftly developed its business model to include passenger ferries and holidays. A chronology to 2013 provides a history of the fleet, details the development of the business and highlights the involvement of key personnel. Further chapters set out design features, both structural and interior; a week in the life of the Pont-Aven commissioned to operate between Plymouth and Santander, and its crew, including Captain Gilles Quere; 24 hours in the life of purser Mario Stevelinck aboard the Bretagne; and the company's approach to catering and art on board ship. Details of the nine vessels in the 2013 fleet are included with photographs.
