Renamed Coast Lines in 1917, Powell, Bacon & Hough Lines was incorporated in 1913 from three distinct threads that can be traced back to the early 19th century: F.H. Powell & Company, John Bacon Limited and Samuel Hough Limited. The book covers the history of each predecessor company and the creation and subsequent history of Coast Lines following their merger. Fleet lists are also included for each constituent company and the book is illustrated throughout with photographs.
