Waimate (1896)
A 12x10 negative. A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Waimate (1896) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has three yards on her foremast and a small amount of deck cargo is in evidence. An unidentified screw tug is alongside aft. The weather is dull and Tilbury is in the background. The original glass plate negative has been broken and discraded but a 10x8 safety sheet film negative has been made of a photographic print produced from the original negative before it was broken.
