HMS Grappler (1845)
This watercolour painting, which is signed by the artist lower right, depicts the iron paddle gunboat HMS Grappler (1845). She is shown under steam with her sails furled, against the picturesque background of a pine-clad shore and distant mountains. Seagulls add interest in the foreground. The medium includes graphite.
