Seamen and a lady in a church interior

Drawing. This interior was previously tentatively identified as that of St Paul's Seamen's Church in Dock Street, London (1846-48). This was built by the directors of the nearby Sailors' Home as a replacement for the Episcopal Floating Church. Though closed for worship in 1990, the building still survives. This identification is probably wrong and simply based on the fact that most of the figures shown appear to be early 19th-century naval seamen in shoregoing rig, since St Paul's was in neo-Gothic style and the interior shown is 17th-century baroque, with woodwork and monuments to match. As opresent (July 2015) it remains to be better identified, as does the artist. The prespectival style of the drawing suggests it may have been made using a camera lucida, with the figures then added.
