A Dutch flagship running into a harbour, probably the 'Texel'

A port broadside view of a ship with a flag at the main and a striped ensign running up close inshore under the fore course and fore main topsails. In the right foreground are some figures near a large beacon with a horse and cart on the left. In the distance, the other shore of the harbour can be seen with two churches on the left.

This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Elder. It has been put in very broadly with a flat wash in the foreground and on the ship’s side, and without any precise detail added. The margins of the drawing are lined with ink.
