De Liefde lying near Hjelte fiord September 1665
This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Elder of a distant view looking into a fiord. On the right is De Liefde in the ‘Groot Hollandia’ (liefde groot hollat), Gotskens in the ‘Vrede’ (gosskens de vrede) and one other ship. On the left is Adelaer in the ‘Raadhuis van Haarlem’(adelor roedthers / v haerlen). There are several other ships in a fiord in the background.
De Liefde was sent on 27 August to the 6 September, to Breesund, eight miles north of Bergen, to escort some Indiamen to the fleet.
