Two flutes and a waterschip becalmed
In the left of centre is a port quarter view of a flute becalmed, mizzen loosed and fore and main topsails loosed on the cap, with boats slung out in the tackles. Further away to the right, is another flute seen broadside on. In the right foreground is a starboard broadside view of a waterschip.
This is a drawing, more compositional in character than others, carried out in grey wash over very slight pencil and strengthened by pen and ink. It is by the Younger and is signed with part of the signature, ‘W.V.VJ’. It has been approximately dated by the subject, but according to Robinson it may possibly be of some years later.
