A flute before a light breeze
On the left, viewed from before the port beam, is a small flute before a light breeze under courses, topsails and top gallants. A larger flute is depicted in her wake.
This is a pencil drawing by the Younger, signed with part of the signature, ‘W.V.VJ’. According to Robinson it is less skilfully done than other work of the same date.
Other drawings on the same paper are of the English period and may be as late as 1700.
