A Dutch ship drying sails
A large ship viewed from close on the starboard bow. The fore course with bonnet laced on is shown hauled out to a bowline and also lightly blowing out. The fore topsail is loosed on the cap and the main topsail is half-hoisted. The topgallant yards are crossed and a pendant is being hoisted at the fore.
This is an unsigned offset and pencil drawing by the Younger, which has been approximately dated by the style. The offset has been rubbed on the back, with sails strengthened in rapid pencil-work. The margins are lined in brown ink.
