Portrait of a States yacht
There is no certainty that this drawing is by either of the van de Veldes, although it has some affinity with drawings of Dutch yachts made by the Younger in 1685-6 when he visited Holland, and the quality of the draughtsmanship is of a high standard. It is likely that the blue wash is a later addition, but probably not by Charles Gore who made additions to many van de Velde drawings in the 18th century. The drawing is probably based on an offset.
