An English yacht and a ship before a light breeze
In this drawing, which is compositional in nature, the English yacht is depicted on the right hand side and the small English ship ahead of her on the left. There are several other ships in the background. The drawing has margins lined in with brown ink, and in the lower left corner are inscribed in pen and ink the initials 'J Th'. They are those of the London writer and print dealer John Thane (1748-1818) whose premises were in Soho. The drawing is unsigned.
