An English flagship driving on to the rocks
A slight drawing showing on the left a lee bow view of a ship in a very heavy sea trying to claw off the rocks on the starboard tack. The fore topmast has carried away or is struck, the fore yard is being lowered with the sail blowing away; main course has sheets and tacks let fly; main topmast yard crossed. A flag, possibly the Union is at the main. There is a large pointed rock on the right and a ship in the centre distance.
This is an unsigned pencil drawing by the Younger. It is inscribed in the sky on the left ‘L’ (light); and on the back ‘Mester [?b] / marken koije.’
