An English ship dismasted in a gale
On the right, a starboard quarter view of a ship scudding under fore course, pitching heavily. Her mainmast is just going by the board and the mizzen is carried away below the hounds. The foremast is standing and still has the topgallant yard crossed. In the left background another ship scudding.
