A States yacht visiting the Dutch fleet

In the left-middle distance, a weather quarter view of a States yacht with flags at the masthead and peak close-hauled on the port tack. A ship is passing her close to leeward, firing a salute. On the extreme left, a port bow view of a ship at anchor with flag at the fore and pendant at the main. On the right, a ship at anchor seen from before the port beam; she is lying almost head to wind with her courses and spritsail loosed and aback or shaking; a galjoot at her port quarter. Land is depicted in the right distance.

This is a pencil and wash drawing by the Younger, signed ‘W.V.VJ.’ It is inscribed below the States yacht and also below the ship to leeward of her with a ‘K’; and on the back ‘dis 2 stucke groeter voor aen.’ (? These two ships larger in the foreground.)
