De Ruyter's Voyage to Bergen, autumn 1665. The Dutch Fleet lying to

In the right-middle distance, a starboard bow view of the commander-in-chief with flag and pendant at the main, lying with her topsails loosed and shaking; several boats alongside. On her starboard quarter, a ship approaching before the wind, and also a large ship lying with sails loosed but only her fore topsail filled. In the left foreground, a starboard broadside view of a galjoot with her mainsail brailed.

This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Elder. The wash may have been added by a later hand.
