The Dutch fleet lying-by. On the left is a bow view of a ship with the wind on the starboard quarter. On the right is the weather quarter view of a ship close-hauled on the port tack. The vice-admiral of the centre and a rear-admiral are depicted in the centre distance.

This drawing may be related to De Ruyter’s voyage to Bergen in the autumn of 1665.
