The Eendracht before the wind

To the right, a port quarter view of the ‘Eendract’, flag and pendant at the main with the wind slightly on her starboard quarter; fore and main topsails and mizzen set; fore course with the sheets let fly. There is a port broadside view of a weyschuit in the left foreground. In the left middle-distance, two ships are close hauled on the port tack. In the right distance, a ship is in the wind.

This is an unsigned pen and wash drawing by the Eler, touched with white on grey paper. It is possibly a copy of a drawing by the Younger. The ‘Eendract’ was blown up in 1665.
