The tafferel of a Dutch ship
On the tafferel there is a crowned coat-of-arms consisting of a lion rampant on a shield with a boarder chequy impaled with an arms left blank except for ‘J’ inscribed above and ‘R’ below. It has lion supporters. Inscribed above is ‘ANNO 1659’ and on the rail above, dolphins with crossed anchors between. One of the quarter figures has been re-drawn larger on the right. It is inscribed on both sides of the tafferel with an ‘L’.
