The Dutch fleet at anchor

In the centre there is a starboard bow view of a ship at anchor with a pendant at the fore. (? D commdr everts). To the right, seen more broadside, the ‘Tijdverdrijf’ (? Tijt verdrijf), and in the distance beyond the ‘Edam’ (de bul). In the left foreground there is a lee quarter view of a smalschip under sail with the wind on the port quarter. Beyond, on her port bow, there is a ship at anchor with flag at the fore and pendant at the main (? Tromp); and in the distance, a ship with flag at the main (? Wasenaer).

This is a pencil and wash drawing by the Younger, signed in brown ink ‘W.V.VJ.’
