Two Dutch ships in stays

In the left foreground, viewed from before the port beam, a ship with her mizzen and main topsail filled on the starboard tack and her fore course and topsail aback. On her starboard quarter, another ship also with her headsails aback, but with her mizzen and main topsail filled on the port tack.

This is a pencil and wash drawing by the Younger, strengthened with pen and brown ink. It is signed ‘W.V.VJ.’
