Portrait of the Burcht van Leiden

Viewed from before the port quarter. On the tafferel, a picture of a round tower on a hill with trees and houses below. On a ribbon above the tower, there is the inscription ‘de Burgh v leijde.’ On the rail above are the arms of Amsterdam with lion supporters. Two shields are on the counter, on the port side there is a lion rampant and on the starboard side crossed anchors for the Admiralty of Amsterdam.

This drawing by the Younger is in pencil with a little wash and with the waterline corrected in pen and brown ink. It has the false signature in brown ink ‘W V V.’
