The square-sail of a small vessel lowered and laid aback

A fragment of a drawing showing a square-sail viewed from abaft the port beam. The yard is lowered almost to the rail and the sail is being blown back against the shrouds.

This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Younger, though it may possibly be by the Elder.
