Clio (1858)

A half plate negative. A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the corvette/training ship Clio (1858) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has no canvas on her topmast yards or on her mizzen course. A small boat is on a painter astern. Tilbury is in the background. The Clio (1858) was lent to the Marine Society in February 1876 for service as a boys static training ship off Woolwich until November 1876. After a refit at Chatham she was transferred to Bangor as a static training ship in February 1877.
