Ships and yachts saluting as barges pull away

The yachts and ships are saluting as four state barges in the centre foreground pull away. In the right foreground is a starboard bow view of a yacht with mainsail brailed; two ships are in the middle-distance beyond, before a light breeze. On the left are two other yachts also with mainsails brailed.

This is part of a series of over 80 drawings of the royal visit to the ‘Tiger’ at Woolwich and the subsequent passage down the Thames to Sheerness and Chatham, with the return up the river the following day. Not many of the earlier drawings have been found, but nearly all the drawings numbered 67 to 87 are either in the Boymans-Van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, or in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
