The Great Equatorial Telescope in the Dome, Greenwich Observatory
This hand-coloured print is of the Great Equatorial Telescope (the Merz 12.8-inch visual refractor) at Greenwich in the dome subsequently occupied by the 28-inch visual refractor [AST0932]. This print appeared in Walter Thornbury's 'Old and New London' (6 vols, 1872-78), vol. 6, p. 223.
The print is mounted in a glass-fronted Hogarth frame in brown and gold.
