Verschey de Schepen.... Plate b2. De Paerrel een Oostuidis Vaerder. Den Dubbelen Arent een Westindis Vaerder
Line etching depicting Den Dubbelen Arent (The Spread Eagle) and De Paerrel (The Pearl), inscribed in Dutch. On the left is The Pearl, described as "een Oostindis Vaerder" (an East Indiaman), and on the right is The Spread Eagle, described as "een Westindis Vaerder" (a West Indiaman). The smaller size of a West Indiaman compared to that of an East Indiaman remained true of ships of the two companies, both in the Netherlands and in Britain.
