One of a set of etchings by Zeeman entitled: ‘Verscheyde schepen en Gesichten van Amstelrdam’ (Various ships in the neighbourhood of Amsterdam).

Depicts two ships, the Vrÿheÿt and the Hasewint.

Inscribed below on the left: ‘De Vrÿheÿt een Oorloogs Schip’ (The Liberty a naval ship). On the right below is inscribed: ‘De Hasewint een Spaens Vaerder’ (The Greyhound trading to Spain). Bottom right corner inscribed: ‘b 3’ (plate no. 3).

Vryheyt is listed by A. Vreugdenhil (‘Ships of the United Netherlands, 1648-1702. Lists of men-of-war’. C.U.P., 1938) as ‘Blown up in action 1676’.
