Donau (1874)

A whole plate negative. A slightly distant port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the Austrian Navy screw corvette Donau (1874) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is firing a gun salute. She has the Austrian flag at the jack, the foretop, mizzen top and mizzen gaff, the Royal Navy white ensign is at the maintop, signal flags are hoisted between the topgallant and course on each mast and the flags hoisted to port match those hoisted to starboard. Her funnel is lowered. An unidentified steam screw tug is in the left foreground and Tilbury is in the background. The bottom right corner of the negative has been damaged by damp.
