Gleaner (1890)

A 12x10 negative. A starboard very near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the Royal Navy torpedo gunboat Gleaner (1890) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is painted in Victorian livery and has a cutter alongside. She commissioned 8 November 1898 as a tender to HMS President based at Gravesend to train Royal Naval Reserve officers and men. This service lasted until 16 December 1903 when she paid off at Chatham. Tilbury is in the background.
