The Greyhound Excise Cutter. Capt Wm Watson - on a wind, chasing

This is an aquatint etching of the large naval cutter ‘Greyhound’, which was brought in from the merchant service. She weighed 148 tons, carried a crew of 50 men and originally carried 21 guns, although her firepower was reduced to 12 guns in 1781. She is on a starboard tack, her deck lined with figures, one of whom is holding a telescope. A large puff of smoke billows from her foremost gun.
