A distant view of the auxiliary minelayer HMS Princess Margaret (1914) silhouetted by the sun.
A distant port broadside view of the auxiliary minelayer HMS PRINCESS MARGARET (1914) at sea off Rosyth, silhouetted by the sun. The photographer was on the deck of the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913). The Princess Margaret was a passenger liner built for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. However, soon after launch she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to a minelayer, carrying 400 mines.
