Admiral Earl Howe from the original by Gainsborough in the Trinity House, London
A half-length portrait of Richard Howe, Earl Howe (1726–1799) in admiral’s full-dress uniform, 1795–1812, with his right hand in his waistcoat. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘Admiral Earl Howe. / From the Original by Gainsborough in the Trinity House, London.’ Also lettered with the production and publication details: ‘W. Greatbatch Sculp. / London. Richard Bentley. 1836.’ This portrait was engraved by William Greatbatch (or Greatbach) after Gainsborough Dupont’s full-length portrait of 1794 in the Trinity House, London. The print was published by Richard Bentley in 1836. (Updated June 2019.)
