Dark shading beneath the nearest boat simulates it shadow on the water. The sea and sky are of a pinkish yellowish hue. There are grey clouds on the horizon. The shoreline can be seen at the bottom of the sketch, with waves lapping against the shore. Some planks of wood are depicted in the bottom right hand corner of the image forming a rudimentary fence.
