Particular attention has been focused on rendering the dog’s head, as darker, overlapping lines help distinguish the forms of the ears, eyes and nose. The texture of the dog’s coat is conveyed through patches of parallel lines visible on the right side of the dog’s face, as well as along the dog’s hindquarters. Hastily drawn lines define the dog’s paws as well as the contours running along the top of the body, which contrast with the more detailed manner in which the face has been rendered.
