City of Benares (1882)
A 12x10 negative. A port very near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the 3 masted ship rigged general cargo sailing vessel City of Benares (1882) at anchor in Northfleet Hope, River Thames. She is down to her marks, has painted ports and is rigged with double topsails, single topgallants and royals. A man is working from a staging hung under the counter stern. Tilbury Docks are in the background. Hughes 2368 is scratched on the emulsion side.
