Flock of sheep grazing

A wash drawing by William Lionel Wyllie. A flock of sheep are depicted in an open field that is also inhabited by crows and smaller birds. A group of trees hover on the horizon line in the distance. A small cluster of sheep occupy the middle ground of the scene while the immediate foreground is empty, save a few indiscriminate pencil marks. The sheep are characterised by heavy shading and subtle linear marks to denote facial features. By contrast, the surrounding field is characterised by patches of rough, uneven parallel strokes that denote the impression of tall grass. A flock of crows appear to fly in from the upper left corner of the scene.
