Blue flower with mauve centre, possibly sea holly

A watercolour drawing by William Lionel Wyllie. A single purple Scottish Sea Holly Thistle is depicted in the centre of the work. The pistil features a deep mauve hue, highlighted by a splash of yellow. The flower’s petals and leaves showcase a blend of mauve and blue hues, while the stalk is defined by a light mauve with white highlighting. A dark green hue has been applied with short brushstrokes around the blooming region of the plant. Two light brown water marks appear on the right side of the work. Additionally, there are several small dark marks located just above the sea holly, as well as in the lower left corner of the work.
