Area of high ground with flowers in bloom

A watercolour drawing by William Lionel Wyllie. The immediate foreground is filled with bright green stalks topped with lilac-hued blossoms. Beyond the patch of flowers is a stretch of sandy-hued ground. In the distance, the sails, rigging and flags of three ships are visible against a pale blue sky. White (unpainted) patches are visible in the foreground (left and right sides), suggesting that this work is unfinished.
