Trees in a copse

A watercolour sketch by William Lionel Wyllie. A small group of trees (“copse”) is depicted at the edge of a field. The field is defined by expressive strokes of green, yellow and brown, with three strokes of black paint located at the lower right corner of the work. The grey sky and copper foliage suggest that this is an autumnal scene.
