Erne (1886)

A 12x10 negative. A close view of the port side of the 3 masted ship Erne (1886) in dry dock at Tilbury, Essex. The photographer is standing on the dockside abreast the stern looking forward and to starboard. The ship has painted ports, there is a large V shaped gash in the side plating of the poop and the mizzen topmast is broken off. There is no sign of any royal yards being fitted. The ship has obviously been in a relatively minor collision that can be repaired quickly. There is a hand written notice by the boarding ladder which reads "No admittance except on business".
