A Dutch ship under easy sail
A rather coarse, largely grey-wash drawing over black chalk, of a small ship seen from just abaft the port beam, running before a light wind under mizzen driver and topsail, and main topsail. The fore topsail is braced round and shaking, the fore and main courses half brailed up.
Robinson has doubtfully attributed the work to the elder van de Velde; however it is possible that it is by neither of them.
