Formosa (1883)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the 3-masted barque Formosa (1883) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Her fore topgallant is broken and hanging down, her main topgallant has broken off and is hanging above the aft boat stowage and the mizzen topgallant is broken and hanging down. She had put back for Gravesend while on passage Tyne and London for San Pedro following dismasting and grounding on Chapman Head on 30 January 1910 before arriving at Gravesend, in tow, on 31 January 1910. The screw tug Victor (1895) is alongside and the afterpart of an unidentified Gamecock Steam Towing Co. tug is on the right. Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the background.
