Herzogin Cecilie (1902)
A 12x10 negative. A port very near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the four masted barque rigged general cargo and cadet sailing vessel at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has her original short poop deck which does not extend forward of the mainmast. Men are squaring away aloft and some men are on the fore and main stays removing the chafing gear (baggywrinkles). She is rigged with double topsails, double topgallants and single royals. Tilbury is in the background.
