La Hogue (1855)

A whole plate negative. A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel La Hogue (1855) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is rigged with double topsails and single topgallants, has painted ports and is flying the blue peter. A stumpy rigged spritsail barge is alongside the port side amidships. The Coast Guard Watch Vessel CGWV 28 (1847) is on the shore in the left background and Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the right background. The negative has been crudely retouched to remove the blue peter and the spritsail barge Negatives numbers G1777 and G2289 were taken on the same occasion.
